Community Involvement

- Recently nominated for the Northwestern Mutual’s “Community Award” for the unrelenting support of providing scholarships for continuing education for women of need to enhance their careers in all industries that support the construction and building industry.

- Guest speaker at a total of nine local high schools – speaking to juniors and seniors about careers in the building industry – continuous since 2003 through present

  • Participant for Career Day at Moorpark High School – 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009
  • Participant for Career Day at Thousand Oaks High School – 2003, 2005, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010
  • Participant for Career Day at Valencia High School – 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009

- Los Angeles Unified School District’s Committee for “Groundhog Shadow Day” – a city-wide high school attempt to get over 450 students involved with local community companies for a day of job shadowing prominent executives in all aspects of business - February 2006, September 2009

 - She established a trade show consisting of over 100 local trade schools to meet and educate over 2,000 high school students about continuing education in the trades versus standard education such as colleges and universities - 2004

 - Design Chair for The Wellness Community Design Showcase in the Lake Sherwood Country Club community in Thousand Oaks, California – 2004, 2005

 - Design Chair for the YMCA Children’s Center in Agoura, California - 2003

 - Volunteer of mentoring for kids in correctional centers, including Camp David located in Monte Nido, California – attend monthly “open houses” at these centers to advise and mentor kids within two months of their release from detention  (ongoing – Camp David calls when she is needed – has been involved in the program since 2000)

 - Board Member of the California Wildlife Center – a non-profit company that rescues animals injured in the wild; animals are then brought back to health and then released back into their habitat. – 2003 to 2008

 - Participated as a volunteer vendor for Project Playhouse and HomeAid of L.A./Ventura – modeled one of the playhouse for California Builders, Pardee Homes, and Greystone/Lennar ; playhouses were on display at HomeAid Village in Century City, Valencia and Thousand Oaks, California – 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 participation

 - Participated on the Habitat for Humanity “Women Build” – Orange County, CA, Sep 2007 and Washington DC, Nov 2007
